Sunny skies sticking around for the week

Sunny skies sticking around for the week

There is a weak area of low pressure moving through Sunday morning. This is bringing some areas of clouds and even a few showers out on the coast. It doesn't look like any of those showers will make it inland far enough to end our official dry streak.

This afternoon will bring partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 70s in many areas. The coast and the north Sound will top out in the upper 60s.

High pressure starts building on Monday. The week ahead is looking mostly sunny with highs climbing to the upper 70s by Thursday and Friday.

Expect sun, clouds and some rain for the week ahead

Expect sun, clouds and some rain for the week ahead

Mostly sunny skies on Sunday with highs in the low to mid 70s in most areas.

The north coast could see a few stray showers late in the day.

Clouds will increase on Monday ahead of an area of low pressure that will bring a few light showers for Tuesday and early Wednesday.  Highs for the first half of the workweek will drop to the upper 60s.

By Thursday high pressure will build back in giving us partly to mostly sunny skies.

Temps will rebound as well to the mid 70s.

Clouds and cooler temps expected through the week

Clouds and cooler temps expected through the week

The threat of thundershowers diminished overnight, and we woke to mainly cloudy and quieter.  Lows will bottom out in the 50s throughout the Sound, which is typical. Afternoon clearing should make for a pretty nice looking day, and highs will top out in the upper 60s and low 70s.

We'll see similar conditions for the first few days of the work week, but a cool down is coming as the week goes on.  Strong onshore flow will make for stubborn cloud cover by mid-week, and we'll have a difficult time clearing out in the afternoons.  We may even see a few light showers, especially Wednesday.  Highs will struggle to make it to the 70-degree mark, which is definitely cool for late August (average highs are in the middle 70s).

Even cooler weather is in the forecast as we slide toward the weekend.  An upper trough of low pressure seems to want to sink over the top of the Northwest by Friday and Saturday.  This will cool temperatures even further, and we may have trouble getting out of the middle SIXTIES by the weekend.  The trough will also bring a renewed threat for showers, especially by Sunday.

Have a good day,

Sunny, warm weather sticking around this week

More sunshine is on the way for the second half of your weekend.  We do have a few pockets of fog out there, mostly in southwest Washington and along the coast.

Plan on wall to wall sunshine today with highs in the mid 80s in some spots.  You will need your sunscreen for anything outside.

Monday is looking sunny as well with highs in the low to mid 80s.

A stronger on-shore flow will give us some morning clouds for the start of Tuesday.  Those clouds will burn off to reveal plenty of afternoon sunshine.  Highs will drop back to the upper 70s.

Wednesday will bring a few morning clouds, but still sunny for most of the day.

Right now the forecast models say we will be staying dry for at least the next 7 days.

Sizzlin' Sunday makes way for cooler work week

Sizzlin' Sunday makes way for cooler work week

It's going to be another hot day across western Washington with temps soaring to the mid - even upper 90s in a few spots.  We still are under a heat advisory up until 8:00p.m. for much of the central Sound.

Take extra precautions to stay cool if you are sensitive to heat.

Out on the coast, we are starting to feel the transition back to more seasonable weather.  Highs for Sunday will hit the mid to upper 80s as we start to get a little more cooling from the Pacific.

The Inland area will be impacted by an increasing onshore flow starting on Monday. Highs will drop back to the mid-80s under sunny skies. There is the chance of a stray thundershower popping up from the south too.

By Tuesday we drop to the mid to upper 70s with some morning clouds.

That familiar pattern of clouds in the morning and afternoon sunbreaks is back starting Wednesday with highs in the low to mid 70s.

Clouds in the morning, sunshine by the afternoon

Clouds in the morning, sunshine by the afternoon

Sunday starts out gray once again, but the clouds should be burning away by midday.

Plan on mostly sunny skies by the end of the day for much of our area.  Highs today will be a few degrees warmer too.  Many spots will hit the mid-70s.

This is going to be a very stable pattern over the next 5 days.  Plan on clouds in the morning and partly sunny skies in the afternoon for much of the week ahead.  Highs will hover in the low to mid 70s.

Monday through Thursday will be a ditto of today.  Friday morning we could see a little bit of morning drizzle.

Clouds throughout today, sun to shine later this week

Clouds throughout today, sun to shine later this week

Cloudy skies will continue across western Washington Sunday morning. We are going to stay mostly cloudy throughout the day with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.  A few showers will pop up by the end of the day thanks to an area of low pressure that will be passing to the north.

That low will bring a chance of showers for the Monday morning commute as well.  We will dry out by the afternoon with a few sunbreaks. Highs on Monday will stay in the upper 60s and low 70s.

Our next sunny streak starts on Tuesday with dry weather stretching into the weekend.  By Wednesday and Thursday, highs will be back in the upper 70s.
