Lexington One names Nurse of the Year

 

Lexington County School District One Superintendent Karen Woodward and Lexington One’s Lead Nurse Jessica Porter congratulate Meadow Glen Elementary School Nurse Joan Branning for being selected as Lexington One’s Nurse of the Year. 

 

Branning has served as a school nurse for five years and has previously worked at Midway Elementary.

Lexington County School District One Superintendent Karen Woodward congratulates Lexington High Assistant Principal Sherry Walters on receiving a Wildlife Federation grant.

 

Lexington High Science Teacher Amy Price applied for and received the grant of 50 trees from the National Wildlife Federation.  Price and her students will plant 50 seedlings on the campus as a way to give back to the community and environment.

 LHS Girls Cross Country team wins first state title

 

Lexington County School District One Superintendent Karen Woodward congratulates Lexington High Girls Cross Country team members Bari Robinson, Haylee Love, Meri Heneage, Sarah Jennings, Sarah Hendrix, Head Coach Catherine Lempesis and Assistant Coach Stephanie Long on receiving Lexington High’s first state title in their sport.

 The team competed at the state meet, where they beat 19 other teams with a score of 100 and four runners placing in the top 20.

LEXINGTON, S.C. —The South Carolina Council for Exceptional Children recently recognized two Lexington One teachers for their dedication to the inclusion of special education students in their schools.

 

Pleasant Hill Middle Special Education Teacher Jenny Johansson was selected as the Special Educator of the Year.

 

Saxe Gotha Elementary Kindergarten Teacher Carolyn Steele was selected as the General Educator of the Year.

More than 200 third graders will help the Richland Library and Columbia Museum of Art launch a new art and literacy initiative called All Around the Town: All Around the Town at 9 a.m. on March 4.

Opening Day for USC Baseball SOLD OUT!

The Gamecock Athletics Ticket Office announced Wednesday afternoon that tickets for Opening Day at Carolina Stadium between USC Baseball and Liberty are sold out. The series begins on Friday, February 15. 

Fans may still purchase standing room only tickets for the other games in the series that will take place on Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17.

Lexington County’s 2013 Spare the Air Calendar features artwork by Pleasant Hill Elementary fifth-grader Taylor Mathias. Selected for the month of September, his artwork promotes riding bicycles as a way to improve air quality.
