Boil water advisory repealed for Irmo neighborhood | News
IRMO, SC (WIS) - A boil water advisory issued earlier this week for an Irmo neighborhood has been repealed.
The City of Columbia Water Works says customers who live in the 100 and 400 blocks of Stockland Road were under the boil order. People living in the area who have experienced a loss in water pressure were told they should also boil their water.
Thursday the water department said after an intense flushing of the distribution system, testing on water samples revealed the water is now safe to drink.
City water officials say a 10-inch water main broke that could result in bacterial contamination in the water.
The City of Columbia Customer Care Call Center, 545-3300, may answer other inquiries.
