Irmo Police say they've had to handle three rabid animals in several neighborhoods since October, and they want citizens to be aware.
Officers have dealt with these rabid animals near Archer's Lane, St. Andrews Road, and in the Old Friarsgate neighborhood.
According to DHEC, 15,000 to 39,000 Americans are vaccinated for rabies after being bitten by an animal.
If you see what appears to be a rabid animal, you are asked to contact the Lexington County Health
Department at 785-8113, the Richland County Health Department at 576-2910, or
their local law enforcement agency.
