Smoke forces evacuation of Irmo High School
Students spent about an hour outside Friday morning after somebody discovered smoke coming from a vent inside Irmo High School.
Lexington-Richland School District Five spokesperson Mark Bounds said the problem was traced to a motor in a heating and air conditioning unit.
Students and faculty were told to leave the building as a precaution. Firefighters did not find any flames, but smoke did make its way to two classrooms.
Students and faculty returned to the building around 12:45 p.m.
Nobody was hurt.
