Suspect who led police on 15 mile pursuit still on the run | News
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS)- Police are looking for a man who led police on an approximately 15 mile chase from Irmo to Northeast Columbia Tuesday.
According to Irmo Police Chief Brian Buck, officers attempted to stop a vehicle around 9:30 a.m. on Lake Murray Boulevard, but the driver, Quintin Garrett, did not stop.
The officer pursued Garrett on Lake Murray Boulevard, Broad River Road, Zimelcrest Drive, Interstate 26, Interstate 20 and Interstate 277 where he abandoned the vehicle between Farrow Road and Fontaine Road.
Garrett then ran across 277 and into the woods.
Authorities describe Garrett as a black male, between 20 and 30, between 5-7 and 5-8, 180-185 pounds. He is clean shaven, wearing a white shirt with blue stripes and blue jeans.
Officers from the Irmo Police Department, Richland County Sheriff's Department, Columbia Police and the South Carolina Highway Patrol were involved in the initial foot search.
Buck said Garrett was originally being pulled over for a seatbelt violation.
