IRMO, SC (WIS)- Fire destroyed an unoccupied home Thursday evening in the Friarsgate subdivision.
According to a spokesperson for the Irmo Fire Department, crews were called to 131 Wychewood Road around 6:40 p.m.
The first arriving Irmo Fire unit reported heavy fire and smoke
coming from the front of the structure.
Firefighters from Lexington County and Columbia responded for mutual aid.
The fire was reported under control around 9:50 p.m.
One firefighter was taken to a local hospital for observation after suffering from exertion.
Nobody was living in the home at the time of the blaze. It is considered a total loss.
Officials said the fire appears to be accidental. However, a cause has not yet been determined.
