Lexington One students attend ‘Vet School for a Day’ | News
The University of Georgia selected 20 Lexington One students to attend their “Vet School for a Day” program. This is the first year the university selected students from South Carolina to participate in the program sponsored by the David Forehand Foundation.
Students from all four of the district’s high schools traveled to UGA to learn about the many career opportunities within the field of veterinary medicine. Students began the day by attending a welcome address given by the dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, followed by a tour of the college. Students also attended a presentation by faculty members and participated in discussions with veterinary students and distinguished alumni who provided information about their careers in veterinary medicine.
Each high school in the district could nominate five juniors or seniors. UGA selected the participants based on student’s career goals and GPA, with priority given to seniors.
