According to a report by U. S. News and World Report, three Midlands schools have been named among the Best High Schools in the nation.
Chapin High, Dutch Fork High and Lexington High School were the schools selected as some of the Best High Schools in the nation.
Only 16 schools from South Carolina made the list.
Chapin High ranked fourth- best school in the state, Dutch Fork came in fifth and Lexington was sixth.
U.S. News teamed up with the Washington, D.C.-based American Institutes for Research (AIR), to produce the 2012 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings.
A total of 21,776 public high schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia were analyzed.
A rankings methodology was used that is based on the key principles that 1) a great high school must serve all of its students well, not just those who are college-bound, and 2) the high school must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show the school is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators.
