Owings named principal of Dutch Fork High | News
Greg Owings has been named principal of Dutch Fork High School, effective July 1, 2012. Owings will replace Gregg Morton, who accepted the position of principal of Brookland-Cayce High School last month.
Owings has served as principal of Spring Valley High School in Richland School District Two for the past 13 years. Prior to leading Spring Valley, he served as principal of Summit Parkway Middle School and Windsor Elementary School.
He said, “I look forward to joining Dutch Fork High and Lexington-Richland Five. This is a great opportunity for me and my family to become part of a truly wonderful school and district. I consider Dutch Fork High School one of the best high schools in South Carolina, and it will be my honor to lead them.”
Owings was named the South Carolina Secondary Principal of the Year in 2011. Under his leadership, Spring Valley High School was named a Palmetto’s Finest school in 2008-09, a Red Carpet School in 2005-06 and was recognized as one of “America’s Best High Schools” by Newsweek magazine in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008.
