The Annual OMG of Homeownership Workshop To Be Held June 22nd

On Saturday, June 22nd the Community Development Departments of Richland County and The City of Columbia will host their annual OMG of Homeownership Workshop which stands for Owning, Maintaining and Gardening.

The OMG Workshop teaches participants how to revamp their current home by giving them valuable advice on decorating on a budget, landscaping and home improvement. The workshop will also provide first time homebuyers with the right tools for purchasing their first home.

Tipsters who report drunk drivers could get $100

Tipsters who report drunken drivers in Columbia can get a $100 reward under a new initiative.

The Report A Drunk Driver program was launched Friday by AAA Carolinas' Foundation for Traffic Safety and officials with the City of Columbia.

People can call 911 and give details about someone they suspect of driving drunk. The calls will be coded specifically for the RADD campaign, and tipsters get $100 if the person is convicted.

SC issuing free farmers' market coupons to seniors

COLUMBIA, SC (AP) - Some South Carolina senior citizens can get help buying some healthy food this summer.

On Friday, Mt. Nebo Baptist Church is offering seniors a chance to pick up coupons good for $25 worth of fresh fruits and vegetables. They're available for low-income people age 60 and older and can be redeemed at local farmers' markets between now and Oct. 15.

The program is called the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program and is made possible through a partnership with the South Carolina Department of Social Services.

Calling All Baroque Musicians!

This summer the Columbia Baroque Soloists are offering Masters Classes in the baroque recorder and the harpsichord, participants and auditors are welcome.

The classes will be held on July 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd    from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the USC Music School.

Tuition for the classes are $80 for a participant, $60 for a student, $40 for an auditor and $10 for an individual session auditor.
