LCSD to host Citizen Safety Awareness Program

In three weeks, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a Citizen Safety Awareness Program between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Thursday, October 4 at the Lexington County James R. Metts Law Enforcement Complex, 521 Gibson Road, Lexington.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies will conduct the safety awareness program in order to teach citizens to be aware of their surroundings at home, at work and inside their motor vehicles.

A photo taken by a concerned citizen may lead Lexington County deputies to three men they are seeking in connection with two home burglaries in Irmo.

According to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, the trio was seen in a white Dodge sedan, possibly a 2002 Dodge Stratus, in one of the burglaries.

Both incidents occured on Thursday, Aug. 9 on Lambeth Court and Baffin Bay Road. Investigators say the men made of with electronic equipment, computers, and video game consoles.

Suspect removes copper plate from Verizon Wireless tower

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of $1000 worth of copper stolen from a Verizon Wireless tower, according to sheriff’s deputies.

According to an incident report, officers responded to 1500 Bush River Road in reference to a larceny on August 10.

Upon arrival, deputies met with a representative from Verizon Wireless who stated when he went to the tower to do an inspection he discovered that an unknown suspect had cut the fence to gain access to the cell phone tower, the report stated.

Deputies say the suspect removed a copper pl
