Mayor Steve Benjamin invites members of Columbia’s faith community to a conversation on gun violence Friday morning, March 15.

“Columbia is not immune. The possibility of gun violence lurks in every community and in every school, no matter how rich or how poor,” Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin said. “It’s an everyday concern and the faith community can no longer be silent.”

Report: Credit card fraud suspect spends over $1000 ordering from Pizza Hut

 

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a case of credit card fraud, where the suspect spent over $1000 at a local Pizza Hut.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department released video of two individuals who may have witnessed an armed robbery Tuesday morning.

The report said deputies responded to an armed robbery call at 3:30 a.m. at the Willowcreek Apartments located on Fernandina Road.

According to sheriff’s deputies, the victim, a cab driver for Yellow Cab drove two unknown suspects from the Wash World on St. Andrews Road to the incident location.

Deputies say the suspects assaulted the victim till he lost consciousness, stole his money and fled the area on foot.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense In America To Hold Rally At The Statehouse

Only eleven weeks after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America has decided to hold a rally at the SC Statehouse in Columbia on March 2nd at 10:30 a.m.

The peaceful rally will allow parents and other supporters across the state to reach out to SC legislators about demanding more gun regulation in order to prevent gun violence.

Speakers are still not finalized, but will include: A Columbia mother directly impacted by gun violence when her daughter was murdered by a stolen gun; a Lowcountry public school teacher worki
