Test drive: Car stolen after man posts ad on Craigslist

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a motor vehicle theft that occurred after an Irmo man placed an ad on Craigslist.

According to an incident report, on Oct. 14, officers responded to the Exxon at Piney Grove Road in reference to a motor vehicle theft.

Upon arrival, deputies met with the 29-year-old victim who stated two people stole his red 2003 Nissan CP 350Z, deputies say.

The report said the victim placed an ad on Craigslist, and agreed to meet with a man and woman at the gas station in order to sell the car.

Deputies say another vehicle dropped the couple off at the gas station.

Once the two suspects arrived, they asked the victim if they could take the car for a quick spin and come right back, the report stated.

Deputies say the two never returned.

According to the report, the victim does not know the suspects names or where they live, but remembers the female saying she's from the Fort Jackson area.

The vehicle was on sale for $10,500.

The report describes the two suspects as a black male and female in their mid to late twenties. The male and female are both 5’6 tall.

Deputies say the male was wearing long shorts, a long sleeve t-shirt and tennis shoes. The female had long hair and was wearing blue jeans and a long sleeve shirt.

If you have any information that can help investigators locate these two suspects, you are urged to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
