Report: Suspect pries open Coca Cola machine, steals money

 

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a crime that is becoming more frequent in the Columbia area. According to the report, deputies are trying to figure out who is responsible for stealing money from a vending machine.

 

According to Sheriff James Metts, officers responded to the Food Lion located on St. Andrews Road in reference to a larceny.

 

The report said an unknown suspect pried open a Coca Cola machine that was in front of the store, and removed at least $100 from it.

A man pulled over and detained for a DUI, later confessed to authorities for firing shots at a local apartment complex, deputies say.

Richland County deputies arrested and charged 31-year-old Jerome Harper with attempted murder and DUI.

According to the report, around 2 a.m. on Monday, deputies responded to a call of shots fired at Brook Pines Apartment in Columbia.

The victim told officers she was asleep, when she was awakened by gun fire. 

When deputies arrived on the scene officers located bullet holes in the apartment.
