Keep clam and keep fallen officers in mind

Have a bit of Ivar’s clam chowder on Tuesday, December 8 and you will be contributing to the fund for the families of the fallen Lakewood police officers.

On that day, Ivar’s will donate 100 percent of the profits from chowder sales that day to the fund.

Paul Lawson, district director of the Ivar’s Seafood Bar in Lakewood, said the officers were not just community protectors but friends who frequented his restaurant.

Lawson described Officer Greg Richards as a frequent, weekly visitor at the Lakewood Ivar’s, who enjoyed the halibut; he was well-known to employees as a friendly guy, always smiling, who often spoke about his wife and children and how much he enjoyed time with them. Richards would regularly come in with several fellow officers.

Officer Griswold also visited the restaurant occasionally; she is best remembered for her big smile.

“These officers were our protectors in a community where we have operated our business for years, and we will miss them dearly,” said Lawson.
