COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The national charity Feed The Children is distributing 1,900 backpacks and supplies to homeless school children from South Carolina.
The 1st Annual Columbia Women’s Show opens this Friday, February 10th at 10am at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center and will run through Sunday, February 12th at 5pm. The Columbia Women’s Show is a shopping event that will bring together 175 vendors with an expected attendance of 6,000 female consumers. Everything from fashion and jewelry to real estate and healthcare will be represented at the show.
Historic Columbia Foundation’s first new volunteer training class of 2012 kicks off on February 13, 2012, with a total of ten sessions running through April 30, 2012. Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes and begins at 10 am. Schedule below. Those not able to attend the first session are still welcome to pick up the training on February 27.

A Chesterfield mother of seven children has been selected as the SC Mother of the Year 2012. Miriam McLaurin Gulledge, who will be 77 on Thur., Jan. 26, will be feted by her family on Sunday in a double celebration as they gather to honor her also as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and wife.
