Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Shaun Platt received the Clifford A. Moyer Marksmanship Award on Friday, March 29 during a South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy graduation ceremony for a basic law enforcement officer training class.

EdVenture Children’s Museum offers blood, platelet donors the chance to win free membership

 

During the month of April all presenting blood and platelet donors at the American Red Cross Columbia donation center, 2751 Bull St., will be entered in a drawing to win a one-year anytime membership to the EdVenture Children’s Museum, 211 Gervais St., Columbia.

 

EdVenture is the largest children’s museum in the south and is home to many learning exhibits including “Eddie, The World’s Largest Child,” where children can journey through the 44-foot tall structure and learn about the different body structures.

LCSD to host personal safety class

LCSD to host personal safety class

 

In three weeks, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a personal safety class that is designed specifically for females ages 11 and older. The class will be held between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 4 at the Lexington County James R. Metts Law Enforcement Complex, 521 Gibson Road, Lexington. The class will be provided free of charge.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies will participate on Saturday, March 23 and Saturday, March 30 in the Player Assisted League, which enables persons with physical and mental disabilities to play baseball on a specially designed baseball field at the Pineview Dixie Youth Baseball Complex at 1250 Methodist Park Road near West Columbia.
