Battle Of The Badges charity game set for March 9 | Community Spirit

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in partnership with Lexington County public safety agencies and Lexington County School District One will conduct the fourth annual Battle of the Badges charity basketball game and dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9 at Gilbert High School, 840 Main Street, Gilbert. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Make A Wish Foundation.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts and Lexington County Public Safety Director David W. Kerr encourage citizens to attend the Battle of the Badges, which will include a basketball game between a team of sheriff’s deputies and a team comprised of personnel from the Lexington County Fire Service, county Emergency Medical Services and county Communications Center. The cost is $8 per person. The price of admission to the event includes dinner, a theatrical performance by magician John Tudor and the basketball game between the teams from the Sheriff’s Department and Lexington County public safety agencies.

Resident Deputy Joe Auckerman, who serves the Gilbert, Hollow Creek and Summit communities, is coordinating the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in Battle of the Badges, Metts said. Citizens can buy tickets for Battle of the Badges at Lexington County Fire Station #8, 103 Main Street, Gilbert; Lexington County James R. Metts Law Enforcement Complex, 521 Gibson Road, Lexington; Price’s Country Store, 540 Peach Festival Road, Gilbert; Gilbert Middle School, 120 Rikard Circle, Gilbert; and Gilbert High School, 840 Main Street, Gilbert, Metts and Kerr said.

The Battle of the Badges charity basketball game and dinner reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
