Okra strut finds home for one year | Community Spirit

The celebration of the slimy green vegetable has found a home for one year.

According to Councilman Paul Younginer, this year’s Okra Strut will be held on the streets neighboring Irmo Town Park.

On Tuesday, the Irmo Town Council approved a plan to allow this fall’s event to take place at this one-time location, as a new park is being developed to host the event as early as 2013.

This Okra Strut celebration is Friday, September 28 from 6-11 p.m. and Saturday, September 29 from 9-5 p.m.
