The principal at Irmo High School says he's resigning at the end of 2012 to battle what he calls "serious health concerns"

Principal Rob Weinkle says his decision to resign as principal was a difficult one.

Stephen Hefner, superintendent, said Weinkle’s leadership will be missed at Irmo High School.

“We are truly grateful to Rob Weinkle, he will always be part of the Lexington–Richland Five family," said Hefner in a statement. "He has done a wonderful job leading Irmo High. He will be in our thoughts and prayers.”

Retired Lexington High School Principal Creig Tyler will serve as interim principal, and a permanent principal will be hired by next summer.
