South Carolina Drug Cards FREE Through SC African Chamber of Commerce

 

Soon small businesses in South Carolina will see lower prescription drug costs under a new healthcare savings program.

The healthcare savings program will use the South Carolina Drug Card, which is sanctioned under the Prescription Assistance Program (PAP). The card can result in savings of up to 75 percent on brand and generic medications. The South Carolina Drug Card is free and accepted at all major pharmacies, including CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, BI-LO, Kmart, Fred’s, Ingles, Kerr, Longs, Target and Walmart.

DMV wait times available online

STATEWIDE (WIS)- As summer approaches, so does the potential for a trip to a local Department of Motor Vehicles office for a new drivers license or other needed services.

Did you know you can now go online to see how long the wait might be?

The DMV late last year optimized its website to display average wait times for 67 offices statewide. The move came in conjunction with a queue system upgrade in its offices, which includes greeters and television screens inside waiting rooms that help improve flow.

Remember the record-setting $587 million Powerball® jackpot from late last year? Time is running out to claim three Powerball® tickets sold for that drawing. Two of the tickets are worth $40,000 and one is worth $10,000.  The winning tickets were sold in Columbia and Orangeburg. 

The November 28, 2012, Powerball® jackpot drew national attention and produced one $2 million winner, two $1 million winners, six $40,000 winners and five $10,000 winners in our state.  More than 140,000 winning tickets were sold by the South Carolina Education Lottery for the drawing.

The U.S. Small Business Administration is recognizing National Small Business Week from May 20-26, 2013.  Understanding the importance of small businesses, the City of Columbia’s Office of Business Opportunities will be hosting the Small Business Week Conference on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

LCSD, LPD to host fourth annual Cops and Calabash

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies and Lexington Police Department officers will work as servers during the fourth annual Cops and Calabash fund raiser for South Carolina Special Olympics that will be conducted between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23 and between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, May 24 at a Fatz restaurant, 942 East Main Street, Lexington. All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics.

Soccer coach ends career at Irmo with 14th state championship

GILBERT, SC (WIS)- It was a storybook ending to the high school soccer season and the tenure of Phil Savitz as head coach of the Irmo Yellow Jackets Saturday night.

Savitz is leaving Irmo after 33 years to take over the program at Lexington's new River Bluff High School.

Saturday Savitz and the Yellow Jackets faced the Lexington Wildcats for the 4-A Championship.
